Helene’s Nineteenth Century Hostess Apron

"This Hostess Apron was hand-made in the mid-late 1800's and belonged in the Goodwin side of the family from New Castle, IN. Not sure who exactly made it – someone on Helene Covert Trout's maternal side. It is hand-embroidered and trimmed (later) with Belgium lace brought back from Europe by Harriet Goodwin that she purchased while working as a Red Cross volunteer during WWI."

"Would not have trusted anyone else with this piece!"

Maureen’s Mixed-Media Find

"I found an original mixed-media work on paper at a Church Sale. The piece was falling out of a frame but the art inside caught my eye. After researching online I found it was a work called Equilibre 5 by James Coignard, a well-known French artist who passed away in 2008. I wanted to preserve it and brought it to Framing Concepts where Kristina helped me choose a design for the matting and framing."

"My piece looks beautiful. Kristina was wonderful to work with and the end result will protect and preserve the artwork for years to come."

Pulp Fiction Magazine

"I found a wonderful collection of old pulp fiction magazines from the 1930's and 1940's at Tish's Antiques in Lowell. As I looked through them, the cover art of this particular magazine from September of 1942 kind of grabbed me so I bought it. I thought it would be a waste to just put it on a shelf where the art couldn't be seen, so I thought about displaying it, and what better way than having it professionally framed. My wife and I had many other pictures re-framed at Framing Concepts after a fire so I knew the quality...

Handprints for Grandparents

"This was the first Christmas in many years that all the grandkids were able to spend with our grandparents. We wanted to do something special & memorable from all of us to them. While the process was a bit messy (try getting hand prints from a 3 year-old), we are so thrilled with the outcome and can’t wait for our grandparents to see it!"

"FCG was so helpful throughout the entire process and really helped the project come together. Thanks FCG!"

Margaret’s Hurley Stick

"On our trip to Ireland we found at last our cousin of my O’Malley grandfather. After an evening of celebration, my cousin reached up and took down his old winning Hurley Stick from the wall behind his bar. With tears in his eyes he gave it to me. I’ve never been so honored. Gorgeous outcome!"

-- Margaret Amundson

A Hurley is a wooden stick used to hit a sliotar (leather ball) in the Irish sport of hurling. It measures between 70 and 100 cm (28 to 40 inches) long with a flattened, curved end (called the bas) which provides the striking surface.

Peyton’s Blackhawks Memories

Peyton Tarnowski was lucky enough to attend the sold-out Chicago Blackhawks convention this past year. He got to meet some of the players and had them sign a jersey & puck. Peyton's mother, Lori, wanted his fun Blackhawks memories to last a lifetime. She thought the best way would be to have these items framed so he can see it daily and relive the memory. During Chesterton's Trick Or Treat night, Peyton (left) just happened to be trick or treating with his friend TJ (right) here at FCG. Lori pointed out the framed project to him. He couldn't believe it...

Pam’s Handmade Indian Purse

"My Mom & Dad brought back this gift for me while they were on vacation in Hayward, WI in July of 1971. It is a purse that the Chippewa (aka Ojibeva) Indians, who live in Hayward and surrounding areas, hand-made. I’ve had it displayed on an over-the-door hanger or from a door knob for many years. I think it’s about time to display it permanently & beautifully, that’s why I brought it to Framing Concepts."

"FCG has framed many art projects for me over the years.
I would never trust anyone else for my projects. FCG is fantastic!"

New York City Memories

"My parents bought this print in NYC on their wedding anniversary; we lived on Long Island at the time. It was the late 80’s. It is more special to us now, since it depicts the World Trade Center Towers. I came to update the frame and love what Lucas, the designer, and I picked out for it! It was a wonderful experience to take time and explore different frame options for my piece, plus my little daughter loved the cookies!"

Congrats To Peggy!

Peggy Peterson, a longtime FCG client, is an accomplished needlepoint artist. We are always thrilled to see her creations. Peggy's latest project is a tobasco oyster & pearls needle point. The work was submitted by one of Peggy's co-teachers to be in the new edition of Jo Ippolito Christensen's The Needlepoint Book. The book is a must-have for new and accomplished needle point enthusiasts, and is commonly known as the "Needlepoint Bible." Congrats to Peggy for getting published! Memories From Japan

"These 3 pieces were hand-carried back to the states by my Mom as mementoes of her 1973 summer in Japan. Each held a special memory for her that she shared with each person who lived or visited her home. She passed them on to us and now, after beautiful framing, will continue to bring enjoyment and her memories in our new home for years to come. These are our most recent projects framed with FCG; we've used them for 10 years, and more to come!"
